Mending Practice

Commitment to repair

“Mend with wisdom mend with love.

It will mend the earth at the same time,”

Why Mending is Important

Several years ago I began learning about visible mending out of a deep fascination and I find today it is an integral part of my personal philosophy. Mending For me is a meaningful act because it briefly interrupts the flow of capitalism. There’s something radical about saying- ‘I’m going to use my time and energy to fix what I have rather than buy a new one’. It shows us that we can salvage and make functional again something that felt irrevocably broken. Mending teaches us patience and attention, care and commitment. This is a very essential energy to cultivate that can benefit the greater picture of our lives.
